Area Coordinator

Area Coordinators (ACs) work with the Residential Services team to foster an inclusive residential environment that fulfills the mission, vision, and goals of Residential Services and the Division of Student Affairs. ACs are 12-month, full-time, master’s required, live-out staff members who are responsible for the overall management of residential areas of up to 2,500 residents. The AC reports to an Assistant Director in Residential Life. This position includes working with diverse groups of students, staff, and faculty in a competitive academic environment.

Resident Director

Residence Directors work with the Residential Services team to foster an inclusive residential environment that fulfills the mission, vision, and goals of the Division of Student Affairs The responsibilities of this position include: managing a residential area housing up to 1000 students; managing and supervising 1 Assistant Residence Director and 12-18 student paraprofessionals; focusing on student development and academic success; assisting in enforcing University, city and state policies and laws; coordinating the flow of information between hall staff and central office; monitoring, assisting, helping develop and participating in Residential Experience Framework activities; and performing other duties as assigned. The required qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in higher education administration or related field (masters preferred); 1-3 years full or part time previous experience in residential life, housing, student activities or student affairs; supervision of paraprofessional staff.

Director, Residential Community and Support

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Residential Experience and guided by the Residential Experience Framework, the Director of Residential Community and Support (RCS) provides leadership in the areas of community, belonging, student well-being and support, community standards, inclusion, and emergency response for undergraduate and graduate students living in campus housing. The Director of RCS works closely with the Director of Residential and Academic Engagement (RAE) to implement social programming, leadership opportunities, faculty-in-residence and residential college programs, and links to academics in the residential setting.

The Director of RCS also works with campus partners in the Division of Student Affairs, including the Dean of Students Office to coordinate student support and wellness protocols, Community Standards to implement follow up for behavioral concerns, Campus Inclusion and Community to further initiatives regarding inclusion and belonging, and other campus partners to support these areas. The Director of RCS also works with the Director of Operations and Services to ensure seamless operations in residence halls and residential colleges. The Office of Residential Experience sits within the Residential Services department, providing the opportunity for the Director of RCS to serve on the departmental leadership team and collaborate with senior staff to support long-term and strategic goals for the residence halls and residential colleges.

The Director of Residential Community and Support will participate in department wide on-call rotation. In addition, some weekend and evening hours will be required.
