Student Leadership Opportunities
Area Council Executive Officers
Area Councils are student-led organizations advised by Residential Services staff to provide leadership and community development opportunities within a residential area comprised of residence halls and residential colleges. Each of the four residential areas has an Area Council comprised of four executive officer positions: President, Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Programming.

Area Council Building Representatives
Each building in an area has at least one Building Representative on the Area Council. Building Representatives serve on Area Council committees for special events and initiatives. They also work to encourage residents of their buildings to participate in the life of the area. This position is an excellent way for new students to get involved in leadership on campus.
Residential College Board
The Residential College Board is the umbrella student leadership organization over the residential colleges. Comprised of executive offers and the presidents of the residential colleges, RCB serves advisory, advocacy, and planning functions; it also organizes signature events for all members of the residential colleges, including a traditional fall formal and spring field day. RCB Full board serves as an advisory body for the residential colleges here at Northwestern University. Learn more about RCB on its website.

Residential College Executive Boards
Each residential college is led by an executive board, a group of elected student leaders that plans social, cultural, and intellectual programs with guidance from the college's faculty and graduate leadership. From munchies and coffee hours to firesides (a tradition of informal talks) and philanthropic events, executive boards connect students with each other and college fellows, who are affiliated faculty and staff.
