Toya (she/her/hers) arrived in January 2022 from her previous role in residence life at John Carroll University in Ohio. Toya managed an area of first year students and coordinated programming for two living and learning communities within that area.  Toya has worked in Residence Life as a graduate assistant at Kent State University and then as a full-time professional at Bowling Green State University, Case Western Reserve University, and a short period with American Campus Communities. Toya also worked with two Northwestern University summer programs: Center for Development and the College Prep program supervising residential staff. Prior to coming back to residence life, Toya worked in school district U-46 with students in grades K-6 as a special education para and substitute.

Toya is passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and has a MA in Psychology focused on Diversity Management from Cleveland State University, a MA from Kent State University in Sports Management and a BA from Kent State University in Communication Studies.

Toya enjoys spending time with her family in the Chicagoland area, shopping, reading nonfiction when she’s able, traveling when possible and being social or participating in community service with her sorority sisters as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
