Updated: June 17, 2025
Charitable donations are permitted in certain instances, as outlined by the Office of the Controller. The Charitable Donations by the University policy (PDF) provides guidance for the unique occasions when Northwestern may donate to another not-for-profit entity.
Prior to processing a new supplier registration for an entity to which Northwestern will make a donation, the Request Form to Provide Donations or to Fundraise for a Registered Not-for-Profit Charitable Organization (pdf) must be completed and forwarded to Business and Finance Office for review and approval by Nicole Van Laan, Assistant Vice President for Finance. This completed form, along with other pertinent documentation, should be attached to the supplier registration request.
Additionally, each time that a charitable donation is made (regardless if the supplier is already in the vendor database) the form must be completed and then reviewed and approved by Nicole Van Laan.
