International Shipping – Customs Information

When purchasing items that will be shipped internationally, departments and schools must prepare for customs fees. Procurement has established an agreement with Deltamax as the University’s vendor for customs clearance and freight. The vendor’s fixed price is $375 and covers Deltamax handling, Customs Broker services, outport fee and USFDA. The fee does not include:
- Actual Import duties if any, depending on the USHS code of the commodity
- Customs Merchandise fee of 0.3465% of commercial invoice value
- Custom Harbor Fee of 0.1250% of commercial invoice value
- $75 per additional Federal agencies such as USDA, TSCA, EPA, BFAR
Please be prepared to pay these fees by contacting Deltamax and issuing a Purchase Order, process a Payment request, or use a Northwestern Corporate Card. Note that POs will likely require a change order based on the final charges.
