Winter Recess Coverage
Northwestern University will observe a Winter Recess beginning December 23, 2021 through January 2, 2022. During this period, all academic and administrative offices will be closed. We will return to normal business hours on Monday, January 3, 2022. For questions, contact Procurement and Payment Services (PPS) at 847.491.8120 or procurement@northwestern.edu.
Processing Deadline
As we prepare to close our offices, below are a few reminders related to PPS availability:
- Calendar year-end sensitive transactions
If you have a payment request, purchase order, expense report, or invoice that needs to be processed before Winter Recess, please ensure it reaches PPS by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 17, 2021. Transactions received after this deadline may not be processed until January 3, 2022. Please also note that the processing deadline for Accounting Services for Research and Sponsored Programs (ASRSP) is Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. -
To minimize the number of packages being delivered over the break, we ask that departments and labs try to pause ordering by Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Also be mindful of Amazon orders placed prior to the break, as they will not hold any packages for us and have a practice of leaving package outside if no one is available to receive them. We appreciate your help with minimizing the number of packages being delivered over the break.
Winter Recess Schedule
Limited coverage arrangements have been made during winter recess for our central receiving docks, mail services, the lab gas program, and other critical services. However, we strongly encourage vendors to schedule or re-schedule deliveries during our normal operating hours.

- It's recommended that enough supply of compressed gases are ordered in advance of the extended break to accommodate your needs.
- The liquid nitrogen and dry ice self-service stations in Tech MG91 will be available during the entire break. Additional supply stations will be set up to accommodate the extended break.
