New Accessible Purchasing Process

On September 1, 2021, Northwestern’s Digital Accessibility Policy was implemented, which requires that all purchasers ensure that digital software, application, and content purchases meet digital accessibility standards.  The Digital Accessibility Steering Committee has developed the digital accessibility purchasing process to guide purchasers through the steps needed to ensure accessibility. Using this process and the support documents, purchasers will be able to collect needed accessibility information from the vendor, utilize that information to determine next steps, and, when a purchase does not fully comply with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard, develop an equally effective alternate access plan.
