COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Northwestern University will conduct classes remotely for at least the first three weeks of Spring quarter, beginning March 31 for semester students and April 4 for all other students. We know that many of you are concerned about how this may impact your immigration status. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program has issued new Federal guidance that allows schools to make exceptions to the in-person course requirements for international students due to the COVID-19 situation. Your immigration status will not be impacted by Northwestern’s decision to move to remote teaching and learning for the foreseeable future, but please remember that you are still required to be enrolled at Northwestern as a full-time student

We appreciate your patience as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve. Your health, safety, and immigration status are of utmost importance to us, and we urge you to regularly check Northwestern’s Coronavirus website and Frequently Asked Questions to stay informed of the most up-to-date guidance and recommendations related to COVID-19. We will also continue to closely monitor new COVID-19 related developments and share all information relevant to your immigration status with you directly via email. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your advisor.
