Graduate International Student Orientation


GISO will begin September 9. 

Graduate International Student Orientation (G-ISO) will be provided online through CANVAS beginning in early September. Live online events for Graduate International Student Orientation will begin September 9.  The CANVAS page for G-ISO will be open beginning prior.

What will you do at online G-ISO?

  • Meet new international students, Graduate Sidekicks, and the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISS) team.
  • Understand how to maintain your F-1/J-1 immigration status.
    • Learn the benefits and restrictions related to obtaining an F-1 or J-1 visa.
    • Be aware of the services OISS offers to ensure maintenance of your F-1/J-1 visa status.
  • Learn about academic culture and student life at Northwestern.
  • Begin to develop your community at Northwestern.

COVID-19 Vaccination Form

  • Northwestern announced on May 12 that a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Students, faculty and staff are required to follow policies, protocols and guidance designed to protect everyone’s health. All students must: 
    • Complete the COVID-19 Vaccination Form by July 12 to register for classes
    • Submit the COVID-19 Vaccination Form either to report your vaccination or to request an exception so that you can arrive and receive your vaccine on campus. 
    • Students who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to abide by safety standards and comply with heightened COVID-19 testing, masking, symptom monitoring and quarantine/isolation protocols.
