  • Undergraduate Courses taken by the eligible spouse and dependent children at Northwestern University
  • Benefit based on billed tuition minus forms of financial aid; mandatory fees are NOT eligible expenses
  • Benefits are provided up to 12 quarters per dependent; limited to undergraduate study.
  • Terms for which this benefit is received will coordinate with the Portable Tuition benefits such that benefits are received for no more than 8 full-time academic semesters or 12 full-time academic quarters per dependent.
  • Affiliated and Northwestern-sponsored study abroad programs are eligible for the Dependent Reduced tuition benefit. (Unaffiliated programs may be eligible for the Dependent Portable tuition benefit. Visit the study abroad website for details.)
  • Dependent child eligible up to age 26
  • Requires an application each calendar year. 
  • By submitting an application, you are agreeing to the following statement: I certify that the information provided is correct.  I agree to comply with the provisions of the Northwestern Educational Assistance plan as described in the plan document.  I agree to pay, at the latest, by the due date on the student's account for all tuition, fees and other related educational costs that are not covered by this benefit plan. * Eligibility requires date of hire prior to January 1, 2000.

Waiver of Service Period

For new hires as of 9/1/2014: You may qualify to waive part or all of the 5-year Northwestern service period for the educational assistance plans. You must have worked in a full-time, benefits-eligible position at a FAFSA-qualified college or university offering a comparable tuition benefit immediately prior to joining Northwestern University as a faculty or staff member. Please complete the top portion of the waiver form and have your previous employer complete the bottom portion. Return the form to the Benefits Division (or attach online) for approval.

Contributed Service Medical School Faculty Member

Submit the Reduced Tuition Claim form, along with documentation from your Department Chairman that you participate in the equivalent of 78 hours per year in scheduled teaching to:
