Free Internal Assistance
For all major AV integration projects, Northwestern IT has in-house staff that is able to offer free assistance from project conception through completion. These services can also include the completion of an RFP (request for proposals) if necessary. Use of these Northwestern IT services is not mandatory, but can be particularly valuable for groups without AV expertise.
Contract-free, Internal Billing
For groups that wish to engage with vendors directly (and not go through Northwestern IT), Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing has also established contracts with six AV integration vendors. Using one of these vendors will allow departments and schools to engage with a vendor without needing to sign a contract that includes terms and conditions or other complicated legal details. Vendors that are part of this program will be able to generate a quote and/or Statement of Work (SOW), and when a department or school is ready to move forward with the vendor, a requisition can be created and submitted through NUFinancials.
The program is designed so that a department or school should be able to select any vendor from this list and be assured that they are receiving competitive pricing from a high-quality, university-approved vendor. It is still highly recommended that whenever possible, quotes be solicited from multiple vendors on this list. Different vendors have different pricing methodologies, different service capabilities, different pricing agreements with hardware manufacturers, etc., and it is a procurement best practice to ensure that there is competition amongst these vendors on a project-by-project basis.
