Vendor Delivery Instructions
All deliveries should have a contact name, department, building address, suite number and phone number. If no recipient information is provided, deliveries may be refused. All drivers must check in with dock personnel before unloading.
Evanston Campus
Each department generally handles its own receiving. Very few buildings have actual loading docks, and some departments are located in converted houses, so it is important to know the situation at the address to which you are delivering. Many locations require special equipment/trucks depending on the items being delivered. You are urged to contact the person ordering the goods to learn their delivery situation.

It is recommended that a delivery appointment is made in advance of the delivery to determine the delivery requirements. You are urged to contact the person ordering the goods to learn their delivery situation.
Procurement and Payment Services, Logistics manages receiving at the following locations:
- 2020 Dock at 2020 Ridge Road receives deliveries for mail and packages for most campus locations, including Rebecca Crown Center.
- 633 Clark Street. Dock personnel is present at this location.
The Technological Institute Docks at 2145 Sheridan Road receives deliveries for the following locations (dock personnel is present):
- The Catalysis Center: 2137 Tech Drive
- Hogan Biological Sciences building: 2205 Tech Drive
- Cook Hall: 2220 Campus Drive
- The Ford Engineering Design Center: 2133 Sheridan Road
- Silverman Hall: 2170 Campus Drive
- Ryan Hall: 2190 Campus Drive
- Mudd Building: 2233 Tech Drive
The Hogan/Cook Dock at 2205 Tech Drive also receives deliveries for the following locations (dock personnel is present):
- Hogan Biological Sciences building: 2205 Tech Drive
- Pancoe NSUHS Life Sciences Pavilion: 2200 Campus Drive
- Cook Hall: 2220 Campus Drive

Evanston Truck Size Guidelines
Trucks longer than 40 feet will find it difficult to reach most of the docks listed above. If you are delivering to an Evanston campus address , it is strongly suggested that you call the appropriate docks office or the contact person on the order in advance to schedule a delivery appointment and to to learn about any special requirements. Very few buildings have loading docks, so in many cases, special equipment or truck sizes may be required.
Oversized and Large Freight
Oversized Freight
For oversized items and equipment, please contact the appropriate dock office to schedule your delivery appointment. In some cases, a minimum of two days notice is recommended to ensure the appropriate arrangements and accommodations are made to successfully handle your freight delivery. If oversized freight items are not scheduled in advance for delivery, they are subject to be reschedule for delivery at a later date.

Large Freight Items Include
- Items larger than a 48 x 40 pallet
- Items that require riggers or movers
- Items that are greater than 1,500 lbs.
Delivery Driver Truck Routes
- Failure to abide by the above may be grounds for additional penalties or termination of the contract.
- If the contractor delivers to the Chicago campus, as a way to reduce congestion during the peak commuting times, vendors are encouraged to avoid the hours between 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., whenever possible, and limit delivery vehicles to off-peak hours.
- Anti-Idling Ordinance for Vendor Deliveries in Evanston
- The City of Evanston has a formal anti-idling ordinance to which all vendors should adhere. The ordinance prohibits standing or parked vehicles that are over 8,000 lbs. in gross weight from idling their engines for more than five minutes in any 60-minute period. Vendors making deliveries on campus must abide by this ordinance. For more information on the ordinance, visit the City of Evanston's Anti-Idling Ordinance.
Chicago Campus
Receiving is relatively centralized on the Chicago Campus.
Receiving and Loading Dock Locations
Logistics manages the main receiving dock in the Tarry Building, 745 N Fairbanks Ct. which services the following locations:
- Tarry Building: 300 E. Superior St.
- Morton Building: 310 E. Superior St.
- Searle Building: 320 E. Superior St.
- Ward Building: 303 E. Chicago Ave.
- Wieboldt Hall: 340 E. Superior St./339 E. Chicago Ave.
- Other McGaw Medical Center locations
Logistics also manages receiving docks in the Robert H. Lurie Medical Center, 303 E. Superior, and the Rubloff Building, which receives for the following locations:
- 420 E. Superior
- 357 E. Superior
- 370 E. Superior
- 375 E. Chicago
- Robert McCormick Hall, 350 E. Superior
- Levy Mayer Hall, 357 E. Chicago
Parking at the docks is not allowed. If parking is needed for moves, installations or special events, please make arrangements at the Parking Office.

- The Lurie dock is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday, (312) 503-0278.
- The Rubloff dock is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. but is closed at times during the day for deliveries, closed Saturday and Sunday, (312) 503-0380.

Chicago Truck Size Guidelines
Trucks larger than 40 feet will find it difficult to reach any of the docks listed above. There is construction around the Lurie dock, maximum truck size to reach the dock is 15 feet, and a lift gate is required. Larger trucks could unload at the door or curbside. Please see dock personnel before unloading.
Anti-Idling Ordinance for Vendor Deliveries in Chicago
The City of Chicago also has a formal anti-idling ordinance which limits standing (idling) of on-road diesel-powered vehicles within the City’s borders to a total of three (3) minutes within a sixty-minute period. For more information on the ordinance, visit the City of Chicago's website.
