STUDENT AFFAIRS

Special Projects serves all departments, offices, and staff in Student Affairs.  We can help areas and staff coordinate work with Facilities Management, contractors, movers, and vendors. 

Other services include space planning, organization, optimizing offices with a simple rearranging of furniture, and office and common space upgrades with all new furniture, or just some new lamps.

Space Planning

• look at an overall office, office suite, or department
• work with staff
  • how that staff member interacts with the people that come in the office
    • transactional 
    • across a desk
• therapeutic/conversational
  • comfy chairs
• common spaces
  • at a shared table
• reorganization 
  • creating more efficient space within and office or a suite

Project Management

• furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E)
  • assess need of end users
  • create budget
  • specify fabrics and finishes
    • use of special projects extensive fabric and finish library
• manage on a daily basis
  • coordinate with Facilities Management and/or Contractor
• assess for project milestones
• check that all work is done to specification
• receive all furniture/product
  • set to design specification
• create punch list and follow up until complete

Facility Requests

all facility requests should be routed through Special Projects

• budgeting
• building charge vs department charge
• assessing larger building issues
• bundling repairs
• enter estimate repairs
• coordinate costs and approvals
• enter work order
• coordinate all work 
• finish any punch list items before ticket is closed

New Staff Offices or Office Moves

• create offices that blend well with the rest of the department or unit
• adapt existing offices to meet individual needs
• coordinate move
  • arrange for movers
  • packing
  • move
  • unpacking
  • final layout of new office
  • new keys and Access

Other Special Projects

• Create Grad Boxes for the Class of 2020
• Prepare two residence halls for quarantine and isolation housing
