Special Permits/Spaces

Two-vehicle

  • Issued to faculty, staff or commuter students who want to register two vehicles.
  • Only one vehicle may park on campus at a time.
  • The two-vehicle hangtag must be displayed in the vehicle that is parked on campus.

Temporary Permits

If you are an annual permit holder, your vehicle is in for service and you are driving a different vehicle for the day:

  • To park in a surface lot, you may obtain a temporary permit at no cost by presenting your valid Wildcard at the Evanston Parking Office.
  • To park in the North or South Parking garage, you may use your Wildcard to tap in and out of the garage at no cost.

One-Day Visitor Permits

  • One-day visitor permits are issued at the daily rate for use by non-University affiliated guests, visitors and vendors.
  • This permit is non-refundable.

Metered Spaces

  • Metered parking spaces are solely for short-term use by visitors.
  • Parking at meters longer than the maximum time specified on the meter ("feeding" the meter) is prohibited.
  • Vehicles owned or operated by faculty, staff or students are not allowed to use metered spaces.

Reserved Spaces

Upon approval by the University Parking Committee of a written request from a department head, the Evanston Parking Office may provide a reserved space. These spaces are reserved 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

  • The reserved space holder may not allow any other vehicle to park in the space.
  • Only one vehicle in a reserved space account may park on campus at a time.
  • Reserved spaces are for non-affiliated guests, visitors, patients, research subjects, etc. Faculty, staff, students, contract staff and other affiliates are prohibited from parking in these reserved spaces.
  • All reserved spaces are non-transferable.
  • A premium is assessed on all individual and departmental reserved spaces.

Transportation & Parking may remove a reserved parking space(s) if the space holder or assigned department is in violation of the policy outlined here.

Official Business

  • Upon approval by the Evanston Parking Office of a written request from a department head, Evanston Parking can issue a hanging placard to full-time Northwestern service personnel.
  • This hanging placard is in addition to a regular annual main campus permit and allows temporary parking in normally "No Parking" areas, provided that loading docks, drives, fire lanes and reserved spaces are not blocked or obstructed by the vehicle.
