Walking Zone

Faculty, staff and commuting students (aside from those with extenuating circumstances) must live outside the walking zone to be eligible for main campus annual permits.

The Evanston campus walking zone boundaries are defined as:

Central St. to the north
Ridge Ave. (not on it) from Central St. to Emerson St. to the west
West of the Metra tracks from Emerson St. to Lake St.
Lake St. (not on it) to the south

Transportation & Parking uses the official address of the building to establish residence.

Extenuating Circumstances

Extenuating circumstances may qualify for a walking zone exception.

For Medical-related Requests

Students should contact AccessibleNU.
Faculty and staff should contact the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX Compliance.

For Non-medical Requests

Please complete the exemption request form.
The University Parking Committee reviews non-medical requests and makes final decisions. The Committee meets once per quarter.
