Emeriti Permit
While parking access is issued at no cost to emeritus faculty, the University is obligated to report the fair market value of said parking benefit. Please note that parking rates are subject to change and fair market value is based on a calendar year.
Garage Access
Your parking privileges include access 24/7 to the Huron/Superior garage, 222 E. Superior Street, Chicago, but please note that vehicle storage for more than 24 hours is not allowed.
Application
To apply for an emeriti permit, visit the Chicago Parking Office in person.
Renewal
Emeriti must renew the permit each year during September to keep parking privileges active. You will receive a permit sticker and your Wildcard will be programmed for access to the Huron/Superior Garage.
Imputed Taxable Income Information
Below is a summary of the imputed taxable income for parking access to the Chicago campus for the academic year. "You will receive a parking permit renewal notice by email. Once renewals are processed, you will have the option to be mailed, or to pick up in person, your permit sticker, and your Wildcard will be programmed for access to the Huron/Superior garage. Fair Market Value for Parking for AY 2025-26
The fair market value of this parking is $6,300 (rate includes all parking taxes)
Tax Basis for Parking Benefit
Individual tax liability will be based on the total accrued value for each month that the individual has access to parking during a calendar year. Note that the parking cycle runs from October 1 through September 30 the following year.
