GeoBlue is now BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions
Northwestern is committed to supporting the health of its travelers abroad, and works with BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions, formerly GeoBlue, to provide access to routine and emergency health care worldwide.
As of September 30, GeoBlue has rebranded to BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions. While Northwestern’s international health insurance plans remain unchanged, you’ll notice a phased roll-out with the GeoBlue name phased out by the end of 2027.
What is changing?
- The email address will change to domain@bcbsglobalsolutions.com. Update any email address you have saved to this new domain. However, if you email them at the previous @geo-blue.com address, it will automatically redirect you.
- The new website is bcbsglobalsolutions.com however, your username and password remain the same. Any old links to the website will redirect to the new site.
- The mobile app is changing, but the contents and features remain the same. If you already have the app and have automatic updates, you'll see the change. Otherwise, you can manually update the app.
- The employee ID card has been updated with the new branding; the student ID card will still have the former GeoBlue branding.
What is not changing?
- The phone number for calling for assistance for both routine and emergency care remains the same 610-254-8771.
- The 2025 Northwestern insurance plan including benefits and exclusions is not changing until the plan renews on January 1, 2026.
- The claim form and claims process is not changing.
