Supporting your research during federal funding uncertainty

Dear faculty colleagues,

Amanda Distel and I are pleased to follow up on today’s community message with more details on our support for research.

Effective immediately, we have enacted interim guidance to address research affected by federal funding freezes. Our goal is straightforward: to minimize disturbances to your important work and the dedicated teams supporting it while responsibly managing the University's financial exposure.

This guidance applies to federally funded projects that have not passed their end date and are currently under a stop-work order, are pending a notice of award for subsequent year funding (non-competitive renewal), or for which federal reimbursements have not been received. Currently, the latter category includes all National Institutes of Health awards.

Full details for this support, including eligibility criteria and allowable expenses, are available online.

As an active researcher affected by the recent federal funding changes, I am experiencing firsthand the concerns many of us face. I recognize how disruptive interruptions to our projects are and am pleased to have colleagues like Amanda and many others in the central administration to help sustain our exceptional research programs in these challenging times.

Amanda and I, and the rest of the University’s senior leadership team, sincerely appreciate your dedication and partnership.
