December 18, 2014-Cook Hall ventilation shutdown
Starting Friday, December 19, 2014, at 11:30 p.m. through Saturday, December 19, 2014, 3:00 p.m., there will be a ventilation shutdown (outdoor air supply and fume hood exhaust) in Cook Hall’s "Middle" zone. This is to allow for servicing and maintenance of the outdoor air supply fan system.
Before leaving on Friday, December 19, 2014, fume hood users are advised to close sashes and cover containers of fume-generating substances. For details contact Paul Zint at 847-815-4693.

On November 19, 2014, FM Project Manager (PM) Tom Arey participated in a McCormick School of Engineering "conversation" about Design and Construction at Wieboldt Hall on NU's Chicago Campus. Arey, is the PM for Kellogg's new Global Hub, currently under construction, with anticipated completion in 2016, which will combine the physical and virtual in unprecedented ways. The five-story lakefront education center captures the spirit and energy of Kellogg's unique approach to community building.

November 25, 2014-Hogan Hall water shutdown
On Saturday, November 28, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., water-supported services throughout Hogan Hall will be shut down. This is to allow for valve replacements. Services affected include: Drinking fountains, washroom hot and cold water, laboratory hot and cold water, Reverse osmosis (RO) water, autoclave and glass washers.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., water-supported services throughout Hogan Hall will be shut down. This is to allow for isolation valve replacements. Services affected include: Drinking fountains, washroom hot and cold water, laboratory hot and cold water, Reverse osmosis (RO) water, autoclave and glass washers.

November 4, 2014 - Due to construction at the Evanston Water Treatment Plant, Lincoln St, starting at Sheridan Rd and heading east, will be reduced to one lane during regular work hours as of Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Construction is expected to last approximately seven days.
November 3, 2014 -Deering Library renovation wins architectural award
When the Northwestern University Library was completed in 1970, it closed off the entrance to the attached 1930s Deering Library.

October 14, 2014 -Water shutdown for 1801 Maple 
From Friday, 7:00 p.m. October 17, 2014, through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. October 18, 2014, domestic water will be shutdown for the third floor and above at 1801 Maple Ave. to allow for the replacement of the booster pumps. Services affected include laboratory and washroom faucets, toilets, emergency showers, eyewash stations, and reverse osmosis (RO) water. Sprinkler systems should not be affected. September 19, 2014 -Sheridan Road construction (two projects)
Tuesday, September 23, 2014, through Friday, September 26, 2014, ComEd will be doing underground construction work on Sheridan Road between Lincoln and Colfax Streets. Sheridan Road will be reduced to two lanes from four lanes from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. In a separate Sheridan Road project on the same days, Northwestern will repair underground steam piping just east of Weber Arch and directly south of West Fairchild.

August 14, 2014 - From Friday, August 22, 2014, through Sunday, August 24, 2014, the American Craft Exposition will be held at the Sports and Aquatics Center. Due to its popularity and current north campus construction, we anticipate heavy traffic and high demand for parking. Police Officers will be posted in the area, to assist with traffic control and parking. Daily parkers should consider alternate parking lots on those dates. August 11, 2014 - 1801 Maple chilled water shutdown
From Wednesday, 8:00 p.m., August 13, 2014, until Thursday, 7:00 a.m. August 14, 2014, process chilled water (for equipment cooling) at 1801 Maple will not be available. This is to allow for the installation of a new chiller.

August 9, 2014 - The Evanston Parking Office has moved to 1841 Sheridan Road, inside the new Visitor Center garage. Customer parking is located across the street from the garage entrance, in the small parking lot north of Fisk Hall. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

July 14, 2014 - Cook Hall water pressure upgrade
On Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Cook Hall’s chilled water pressure control system will be upgraded. During this period, there could be pressure and flow fluctuations.
Those using this system are advised to monitor their equipment in case any alarms are triggered.
Chilled water for comfort cooling will not be involved.

July 10, 2014 - 2020 Ridge Fire Alarm Testing
On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, there will be testing of the fire alarm system at 2020 Ridge Ave. It will begin at 5:00 a.m. until about 8:30 a.m. You do not need to evacuate the building.
June 5, 2014 - The Ryan Field east and west parking lots will be closed for repair on the following dates:
Saturday, June 7
Monday, June 9
Wednesday, June 11
Saturday, June 14
Vehicles remaining in the lots after closing are subject to ticketing/towing. The lots will re-open on June 15 (possibly earlier if weather conditions are favorable).
Ryan Field “D” permit holders may park in main campus commuter lots beginning Friday, June 6, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., through the duration of summer quarter.

May 1, 2014 - Cook Hall – Ventilation shutdown
On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, outdoor air supply will be reduced in Cook Hall from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.to allow for the refurbishing of two fans. Temperature and humidity will remain at normal levels. Pressurization of laboratories with respect to hallways may be reduced slightly, but fume hoods should operate normally.

April 21, 2014 - North Campus garage open for business
Approximately 500 new inside parking spaces are now available inside the new structure, which is still under construction. Once completed, the North Campus Parking Garage will have approximately 1,152 parking spaces as well as office space. Read more...

April 21, 2014 -  Ryan Hall and Silverman West– Water shutdown
When: Saturday, April  26, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. 
All city water-supported services at Ryan Hall and Silverman West will be shutdown to allow for the replacement of pumps.
Washrooms, drinking fountains, emergency showers, eyewash stations will not be operational.
A bottled water stand with 5 gallons will be provided on each floor of the two buildings.
Occupants are advised to use washroom facilities at the Catalysis Center and Silverman East.

March 18, 2014 - NU Shuttle service changes
Evanston Loop/Campus Loop: Will not be in service from March 22 through March 29. Service will resume on Sunday, March 30.
Shop-N-Ride: Will not operate on Sunday, March 23.
Chicago Express: Will not operate on Saturday, March 22 and Saturday, March 29.
Ryan Field/Intercampus: These shuttles will continue to operate as scheduled during spring break.

February 18, 2014 - On February 21 and 24, 2014, W.B. Olson and Risk Management will be testing the fire alarm at 2020 Ridge Ave (all floors) from 5:00 a.m. to about 10:00 a.m.
After about 8:00 a.m. the test will be limited to the 3rd floor.
There is no need to evacuate the building when the alarm sounds.

February 5, 2014 - Diagnostic ventilation shutdown at Cook Hall's east wing
On Thursday, February 6, 2014, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. FM will shut down ventilation on all floors of Cook Hall’s east wing while diagnostic tests are conducted. Both outdoor air supply and fume hood exhaust will not be in service.
February 3, 2014 -Winter weather combined with multiple capital construction projects have reduced the number of available parking spaces on both campuses. Parking Services continues to work with FM to remove snow from staff/faculty lots, but faculty and staff are encouraged to use public transportation.
620 and 630 Lincoln Street, the Englehart lots and Ryan Field have free shuttle service to and from the Evanston campus. Chicago Campus faculty and staff are encouraged to use the inter-campus shuttle whenever possible.
January 31, 2014 - Ventilation shutdown at Silverman West
On Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. ventilation at Silverman West will not be available. Outdoor air supply, fume hood and general exhaust will be shut down to allow pneumatic controls to be installed as part of a renovation project.
January 13, 2014 - The Ryan Field west parking lot will be closed after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, to accommodate parking for NU’s home basketball game. All vehicles should vacate the parking lot by that time. The lot will re-open for “D” permit parking after the game.
Ryan Field permits may park in commuter (green) lots on the main campus on January 15, 2014, only.
January 7, 2014 - On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, Northwestern University will be open. All classes will be held and all offices and University facilities will be open during normal business hours on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses.
January 6, 2014 - On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, Northwestern University will be closed because of severe weather. All classes will be canceled and libraries and offices will be closed on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. University Police, Facilities Management, residence hall dining staff and other essential personnel will report to work.
Supervisors will contact those staff members who are needed to work for emergency purposes.

December 20, 2013 - Karl Wolff to retire
On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, Sargent Utility Tunnel was renamed The Karl Wolff Utility Tunnel in dedication of Wolff's over 40 years of service as Chief Engineer and Senior Project Manager. The tunnel, originally built in 1912 was completely restored this year, due in large part to the creative design input of Wolff. On January 6, 2014, Wolff will be retiring from Northwestern. December 5, 2013 - The west passenger elevator at 2020 Ridge Ave. will be out of service starting Wednesday, December 11, 2013,  through Friday, December 20, 2013, in order to perform scheduled maintenance. Please use the east passenger elevator near Ridge Ave. entrance instead.
December 12, 2013 - Campus Drive closure
From 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. December 16-18, 2013, Campus Drive by the new North Parking structure will be partially closed for construction. During the day the road will be open.

Starting Monday, October 21, 2013, there will be a new pedestrian path in front of Bobb Residence Hall. This is to allow for the replacement of steam pipes. October 14, 2013 -  Demolition started on old Prentice tower
On Friday, October 11, 2013, demolition began on the old Prentice tower. Northwestern is on schedule to start construction in early 2015 of a $370 million biomedical research building to replace it. The new Feinberg School of Medicine Research Center will be located on the site of the former Women's Hospital.

September 20, 2013 -  Bike repair stations come to NU
The bike rack in front of Foster-Walker is home to Northwestern's first bike repair station. It includes assorted wrenches as well as a pressure gauge and pump. More repair stations will be rolled out across campus in the near future. Tentatively the next two are scheduled in the vicinity of Norris.
October 4, 2013 -  South Tech Drive closing
There will be no access to the Technological Institute from South Tech Drive on Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time the Office of Research Safety (ORS) has scheduled onsite chemical testing/stabilizations in the area. September 20, 2013 -  Steam shutdown Saturday at Cook Hall
Steam service will be shut down Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Cook Hall to repair a leaky gasket in the building's main steam valve. There will be no hot water in washrooms and laboratories, and steam-supported equipment will not be operational. Cold water will be available in laboratories, washrooms, emergency eyewash, and shower stations.
September 17, 2013 -  Demolition work in Tech Wing J
Starting Tuesday, September 17, 2013, there will be demolition work on the 4th floor monitor roof in Tech Wing J along the L/M main corridor. This will cause noise and vibration throughout the building, but will primarily affect rooms M388 to M396 and L310 to L315. The work will occur between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. through Saturday, September 21, 2013.
September 13, 2013 -  Steam shutdown tomorrow at Tech’s F, G, H, M wings and FG Infill
Steam service will be shut down Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Technological Institute’s F, G, H, M wings and the FG Infill to repair a steam leak. There will be no hot water in washrooms and laboratories, and steam-supported equipment will not be operational.
September 13, 2013 -  New office for University Police
The Evanston NU Police office has moved from 1819 Hinman Ave. to 1201 Davis St., effective Sept. 11, 2013. All telephone numbers for contacting the University Police remain the same. An official opening of the new UP office will be held this fall, with tours available for Northwestern and Evanston community members.
September 13, 2013 -  Norris makeover has "wow" factor
Even Nina Garcia couldn't find a bad thing to say about Norris' new stairway. It's vibrant and cheerful without being overbearing. The photos and drawings done in the Northwestern purple are tasteful and fun. The flatscreen monitor has been added to provide practical information about what's going on around campus. Great job!

August 6, 2013 -  On Thursday, August 8, 2013, starting from 6:00 a.m. a large portion of the parking lot located behind 2020 Ridge Ave. will be partitioned or barricaded to allow for the rewiring and repositioning of the generator. Specifically, the space between Loading Docks 3 and 9 will be inaccessible. The project will conclude Monday, August 26, 2013.
August 1, 2013 -  Effective Wednesday, August 7, 2013, the Cognos report folder will be reorganized to ease navigation. This affects only forms accessible to FM internal staff. Prior to the date, staff will receive an email with a detailed explanation of the changes. FMIT staff will also be visiting FMO and FMDC staff meetings and will be available afterward, as always, for support.
July 31, 2013 -  Evanston campus power outage
Electric power went out at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, on the north part of the Evanston campus. Ryan Field and several other buildings were without electricity until 11:55 a.m., when ComEd restored power. FM is resetting building equipment and fire alarm systems. ComEd reported that the power outage was caused by an off-campus problem with their system.
July 25, 2013 - Peanut Row demolition
Demolition of several buildings on the 500 block of Lincoln Street is taking place this week. The complex of houses on the northernmost stretch of campus has been collectively known as Peanut Row. Some have been vacant only since last year others as long as five. Read more...

The new Feinberg School of Medicine Research Center will be located on the site of the former Prentice Women’s Hospital. Electric power on the Evanston campus was interrupted momentarily at 12:00 noon and 1:15 pm today, Friday, May 31, 2013. Some of Evanston's beautiful trees and foliage interfered with ComEd's overhead power lines off-campus.

May 28, 2013 - Mid-day Power Fluctuations
Between noon and 1:15 p.m. today Northwestern experienced power "bumps" across the Evanston campus -- depressions, sags, and swells in the voltage and power provided by ComEd. ComEd's switching equipment detected a problem with one power feeder line and automatically transferred the load to alternate high-voltage feeders.

April 23, 2013 - On Monday, April 29, 2013, construction will begin on the Technological Institute J-Wing Infill. A fence will be installed which will curtail all public access between H Wing and K wing on South Tech Drive until the completion of the project in early of 2015. Additionally, all truck access to the Tech loading dock will need to enter from Sheridan road down South Tech Drive and exit back to Sheridan road. April 23, 2013 - The U.S. Bank branch office in Norris University Center will be relocating to the ground level of Norris. March 27, 2013 -On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, the annual grass burning at the lagoon (behind Norris) took place. The burn is an important maintenance procedure for the health of native plants and is conducted by professional firefighters. Click here to view photos.
March 22, 2013 -Turn it off for Earth Hour 2013 on Saturday! For one hour on Saturday, March 23 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., individuals, businesses, landmarks, and organizations will voluntarily turn off their lights to reduce energy consumption. South Evanston Campus lost ComEd power at 2:12 a.m. including the Central Utility Plant (CUP), located at 2025 N Campus Drive, and 2020 Ridge Ave.  Power to 2020 Ridge Ave was restored at 3:10 a.m., CUP at 3:20 a.m., and the balance of the south campus at 3:50 a.m.  
March 4, 2013 -From 6:00 p.m. March 15, 2013, until 2 a.m. the following morning, outdoor air supply at Hogan Hall will be reduced approximately 50% in rooms 110, 120, 130, 140, suites 1-110, 1-110A, 1-110B, 1-117A, and CCM offices on the first floor, in order to adjust adjust airflow control devises. Some EPS rooms will also be affected: 3-140, 3-142, 3-145, 3-149, and 3-150.

Mar. 2, 2013 (Sat.) 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – On the West half of the building, exhaust through fume hoods and ceiling diffusers will be reduced.  Fume hoods alarms can be ignored.  Users are asked to lower sashes fully before leaving on Mar. 1, 2013 (Fri.) and cover containers of fume-generating materials.

February 21, 2013 -On Friday, March 1, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the cold water system in Cook Hall’s 3rd floor west wing, will be shut down to allow for the replacement of a leaky valve.

February 4, 2013 - School of Music receives $6M gift
The Robert W. Galvin Foundation has made a $6 million contribution to Northwestern University towards the Bienen School of Music, currently under construction. The gift is in honor of Mary B. The parking lot west of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion/Norris Aquatics Center will be closed starting February 7, 2013, when construction of a new multi-use facility on that site gets underway. See the full announcement and a parking map 
January 31, 2013 - The Frostbite Express Shuttle and Frostbite Sheridan Shuttle will be in service from 7:15 am through 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 31. The Frostbite Express Shuttle runs on the Evanston Loop Shuttle route, while the Frostbite Sheridan Shuttle runs on the Campus Loop route. The schedule has changed since last week, so please check the revised schedule.

January 14, 2013 - Norris Ice Rink is now open
After yet another unseasonably warm Autumn, the Norris rink is finally ready. The rink is open not only open to NU staff and students, but also to the general public. There is no charge to use the rink if you have your own skates. Visit the Norris Outdoors website for opening hours and skate rental fees.

November 30, 2012 - Technological Institute emergency ventilation shutdown
On Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. there will be a ventilation shutdown at Technological Institute. November 2, 2012 - New NU medical research building to replace old Prentice Hospital

Move-in has already started for the Technological Institute's new Willens wing (B/C Infill) and is expected to be completed by the beginning of December 2012. October 11, 2012 — Emergency Natural Gas Shutdown 
Facilities Management has scheduled a Emergency Natural Gas Shutdown for:
Tech, Cook Hall, Ryan Hall, Hogan Hall, Catalysis, Frances Searle (C/D), Silverman Hall, Pancoe and Ford buildings.
Natural gas service will not be available on Thursday (October 11, 2012)  from 3:00pm until Midnight. Please advise others to plan accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience and we will attempt to minimize the impact of this shutdown. Every effort will be made to return the Gas service to normal operation as quickly as possible.

October 11, 2012 — Preventive maintenance at Technological Institute

September 20, 2012 — Northwestern announces new athletics and recreation complex
Northwestern University has announced plans to build a major complex for athletic and recreational activities and a new parking structure on the north end of the Evanston campus. The complex will include a large indoor multipurpose facility that can be used for major events, indoor practice and a competition venue for intercollegiate sports, and space for recreation, club sports and intramurals. Read the Northwestern News article. 
September 14, 2012 — Emergency repair work on Sheridan Road, Tuesday, September 18, 2012
On Tuesday September 18th, Northwestern will make emergency repairs on Sheridan Road at the intersection of Foster Street. Work will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until completion. During this work traffic will be one lane north and south on Sheridan Road. Foster Street will be right turn only onto Sheridan. September 10, 2012 — Overwhelming support for Northwestern's plan to build new research center

August 14, 2012 — Northwestern plans innovative research facility
Northwestern University is planning an innovative research facility to be built on the site of the old Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago. June 19, 2012 — Central Utility Plant shutdown during Labor Day weekend The Central Utility Plant on the Evanston campus will be shut down for routine annual maintenance during Labor Day weekend, beginning Friday, August 31 at 6:00 p.m. Normal operations will resume on Monday, September 3 at 10:00 p.m. This shutdown is scheduled during this period to cause the least inconvenience to occupants of the affected buildings. May 22, 2012 — Groundbreaking ceremony held for new Music and Communication Building The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Music and Communication Building was held on Friday, May 18. More than 200 people gathered to hear about the new lakefront building from Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro, Provost Daniel Linzer, and other members of the Northwestern administration. Construction is set to begin this summer. May 15, 2012 — Groundbreaking begins for Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music A groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music on Friday, May 18 at 2 p.m. The new lakefront building will also be home to the School of Communication. April 05, 2012 — New construction project on Sheridan Road The City of Evanston will begin a project on Sheridan Road, adjacent to campus, immediately after commencement and finishing in mid-September. State of the art traffic lights will be installed at the following junctions: Chicago/Sheridan, Foster/Sheridan, Northwestern Place/Sheridan, Noyes/Sheridan, Lincoln/Sheridan, and Central/Sheridan. These traffic lights will be interconnected for speed control and energy efficiency. Each set of lights will have pedestrian infra-red sensors and count down signals. Northwestern has worked closely with the City of Evanston over the design and implementation of these lights. March 15, 2012 — Searle Hall receives LEED certification for green building practices Searle Student Health has received gold-level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System®.  Jay Baehr is the project manager for Searle. March 01, 2012 — Evanston campus power shutdowns during spring break Commonwealth Edison will shut off power to selected Evanston campus buildings on March 22nd and 24th to perform maintenance on ComEd equipment. December 14, 2011 — Additional power shutdowns on Evanston Campus
In addition to the winter break power shutdowns, ComEd will shut down power at C/D Searle and Cook Hall on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Both buildings will lose power for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. During this temporary outage, emergency generators for C/D Searle and Cook Hall will come online to operate emergency receptacles and lighting. Once ComEd has completed their work, there will be another short outage to bring both buildings back to normal operating power.
December 09, 2011 — Evanston Campus power shutdowns next week

The Northwestern University Newscenter has released an article about Northwestern Place, the redesigned intersection across Sheridan Road that will act as a path to central campus. November 21, 2011 — Northwestern Place paving and striping
The asphalt paving of Northwestern Place, formerly known as Garrett Parking lot, will be completed on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Severe traffic congestion is anticipated and FM recommends you avoid this area and park elsewhere on campus. The lot and driveway will be closed on Friday, November 25, 2011, for striping. For further information, please contact project manager Andrew McGonigle at (847) 815-4738.
November 15, 2011 — New Director of Sustainability joins FM staff
Robert Whittier has joined the Facilities Management staff as the Director of Sustainability. He has previously worked for Deloitte Consulting as a Manager in the Sustainability and Climate Change practice and for General Electric’s ecomagination initiative as a Director. Robert is Lean Six Sigma certified, LEAD GRI certified and a LEED AP with the USGBC. He also sits on the board of Directors of the Delta Institute – a Chicago based organization whose mission is to improve the sustainability of Chicago’s built environment and to promote green economic development.

November 9, 2011 — Temporary closure of Northwestern Place
The Garrett parking lot (now known as Northwestern Place) and the drive to the Allen Center will be temporarily closed as of Saturday, November 12, 2011 for stripping and repavement. The lot will be closed all Saturday and a portion of Sunday. Any necessary access for emergency vehicles will be maintained during construction.
October 20, 2011 — Power Outage on Evanston Campus
At approximately 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, a power outage occurred due to a downed utility pole near the intersection of Orrington Avenue and Clinton Place in Evanston. This off-campus event interrupted power service to several buildings on the north side of the Evanston Campus.
At 5:05 p.m., ComEd started restoring power to the affected buildings. Full utility power was provided by 5:15 p.m., and Facilities Management brought building systems back into operation.
In addition, a power fluctuation occurred near midnight on October 19 that affected all buildings on the Evanston campus.
October 11, 2011 — One lane traffic between Garrett and Swift Hall
The road between Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and Swift Hall has been reduced to one lane during the reconstruction of the Swift Utility Tunnel. The work began October 10, 2011 and is expected to continue for four weeks. Traffic signals at each end of the roadway allow traffic to pass in each direction at 90 second intervals.
September 13, 2011 — A smoky smell is in the air
The National Weather Service reports that smoke from a large wildfire in northeast Minnesota has been pushed into northern Illinois this afternoon by northerly winds. The smoke is likely to persist through the afternoon and into the overnight hours. During this time, the Northwestern University community should expect to see hazy skies and smell a distinct burning odor. Individuals with respiratory problems should use caution while smoke affects our area.
August 26, 2011 — Traffic lights coming to Garrett parking lot entrance
Construction begins Monday, August 29, on the first step of a major project on the Evanston campus to provide state-of-the-art traffic lights at the entrance of the Garrett parking lot, located east of Sheridan Road between Library Place and Garrett Place. See more details of this project.
July 5, 2011  ComEd and Facilities Management restore power
While recent storms put Evanston campus buildings out of commission this weekend, Facilities Management and ComEd have restored power to all affected locations. FM and ComEd are developing a plan to avoid future power outages. Read more here.

June 17, 2011 — Swift Hall Annex begins phase two of window restoration project
Phase 2 of the window restoration project at Swift Hall Annex will be underway on June 20, 2011. Work will continue through August on this phase of the project. View the project schedule.

May 25, 2011 — Consultants determine possible Prentice Hospital renovations to be impractical
Renovating the old Prentice Hospital building on Northwestern University’s Chicago campus for use as a medical research facility is not feasible because of cost and efficiency, according to a study by Jacobs Consultancy, Inc., Thornton Thomassetti and Affiliated Engineers.

February 23, 2011 — Northwestern ranked sixth on EPA list of largest green power purchasers
Northwestern ranked sixth on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's new list of the Top 20 College and University green power purchasers. Northwestern jumped three places since 2010 by matching 74 million kilowatt-hours of annual energy use with Green-e Certified Renewable Energy Certificates. October 19, 2010 — Silverman Hall receives LEED certification for green building practices
The Richard and Barbara Silverman Hall for Molecular Therapeutics and Diagnostics has received gold-level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System®.
