Reappointment of Dean Adrian Randolph
Dear members of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences community,
I am pleased to announce that Adrian Randolph has been reappointed for a third term as Dean of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, effective Sept. 1, 2025. His reappointment follows a thorough review conducted during the Spring and Summer Quarters, which confirmed Dean Randolph’s exemplary leadership and vision for the College. Interim President and President Emeritus Henry Bienen and I are pleased that Dean Randolph will continue to lead the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and serve as part of Northwestern’s leadership team for a third term.
Dean Randolph has distinguished himself as a leader who promotes academic excellence within and beyond the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Dean Randolph’s successes include:
- Articulating a compelling strategy that recognizes Weinberg College as a vibrant hub for boundary-redefining research and innovative teaching
- Fostering a thriving academic community that supports a wide range of scholarly and educational pursuits and elicits creative intellectual engagement from faculty, staff and students
- Advancing academic excellence through recruitment and retention of talented faculty colleagues
- Championing innovation in research and education
- Improving the transparency and effectiveness of Dean’s Office operations by implementing user-friendly systems to support academic activities and communication
- Elevating Weinberg College’s impact through philanthropy, including securing transformational gifts and strengthening alumni and donor engagement
I very much look forward to continuing to work with Dean Randolph and to his continued success in this next term.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the faculty, staff, students and others within the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences community who participated in the dean review process and who informed my assessment of Dean Randolph’s performance. In particular, the ad hoc faculty dean review advisory group — Laura Hein, Vicky Kalogera and William N. West — was instrumental in conducting a rigorous and constructive review. I sincerely appreciate the time, effort and thoughtfulness they devoted to this process.
Please join me in congratulating Dean Randolph on his reappointment.
Sincerely,
Kathleen HagertyProvost
