Nancy Cunniff

Director of One Book, One Northwestern

gina bazer light skin, gray curly hairNancy Cunniff, along with the One Book, One Northwestern program, joined the Office of the Provost in 2023. Nancy has been leading the One Book brand at Northwestern since 2010, growing it into a signature University program. Once geared toward to first-year students, under Nancy's stewardship the program's reach expanded to the Chicago campus and the Graduate Schools.

During Nancy's tenure, One Book has explored global health, Chicago, bioethics, climate change, women's rights, the history of First Nations people in North America, democracy, racial stereotyping, the death penalty, hunger, and more. With the compelling works Nancy selects, Northwestern readers are challenged to look deeper into all sides of an issue.

Prior to joining Northwestern, Nancy was a highly active volunteer in the community holding numerous leadership and fundraising positions for many high-profile organizations, including Woman’s Club of Evanston, Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation and the Evanston Township High School Foundation board. Before that, she worked as a sales and marketing executive for Fortune 500 companies for a decade.

Nancy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Illinois, Champaign.
