Mike Hines

Mike Hines joined the Office of the Provost in February 2021 as the Director of Communications and Academic Initiatives. He took on the role of Assistant Vice President of Executive Communications in January 2023.

As Assistant Vice President of Executive Communications, Mike leads communications for the President, Provost and, for communications that have broad institutional impact, the Executive Vice President, developing and implementing a coordinated communications strategy across these three areas.

Mike came to Northwestern from Northeastern Illinois University, where he was responsible for a number of communications efforts, including executive, internal, media relations and website communications. Before entering higher education, Mike spent about 15 years working in daily newspapers in various news, sports and features editing positions.

Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Oregon and his MBA from Northeastern Illinois University.
