Liz McCabe
Director of Academic Initiatives

Liz joined the Office of the Provost in January 2026. As Director of Academic Initiatives, she leads efforts related to Academic Integrity, Generative AI and Teaching Evaluations for the Office of the Associate Provost of Undergraduate Education and works with the Undergraduate Education team on emergent issues.
She is Associate Professor of Instruction in Chicago Field Studies, the credit-bearing internship program in WCAS, where she has taught interdisciplinary courses on Chicago, civic engagement, labor theory and representations of work since 2009.
Liz earned her PhD in English from Northwestern for a dissertation on the interplay between Victorian literature, anthropology and evolutionary theory. She continues to teach courses in English occasionally, most recently on detective fiction.
Liz also has served on nonprofit boards, coordinated arts-in-education programs and developed discussion of public humanities and community-engaged pedagogy on and off campus.
