Director, Undergraduate Education
Lee West joined the Office of the Provost in December 2016. In this newly created position, West will coordinate the operations and administration of the centers, programs, and departments that report to the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education, with a focus on enriching the educational experience of Northwestern's undergraduate students. She will facilitate collaborative cross-school and cross-unit initiatives for undergraduates, support linkages between curricular and co-curricular support services and programming, and work across the schools and units to extend efforts in assessing student learning outcomes of undergraduates.
Before coming to Northwestern, West was Senior Associate Director for Stanford Introductory Studies, where she provided leadership for high-impact academic undergraduate programs. Prior to Stanford she was at the western regional accreditation association, first as assistant director to the Commission, where she coordinated the peer review process of higher education institutions, and then as assistant director of educational programming, with a focus on the science of learning and assessment of learning outcomes. She earned a doctorate in Communication Studies at The University of Iowa, and has taught communication and rhetoric courses and served as a consultant for ACT, PBS, and other non-profit organizations.Lee West, Director, Undergraduate Education
