Louis Hall Film Soundstage

Project Status

Construction start: November 4, 2015
Completion: January 4, 2016

Project Description & Statistics

The main scope of the project includes a major renovation to an existing studio space in Louis Hall, located at 1877 Campus Drive, Evanston, IL, which will house a new film soundstage for the School of Communications. The soundstage will serve as a large live tracking space to support a 15-20 piece orchestra, a grand piano, a projection display system suitable for scoring film; an isolation booth with direct visual access to the tracking space, a Foley pit; and a portable whisper room booth. Adjacent to studio, two offices will be converted to one large control/mixing room equipped with a large interior window for a recording technician to have direct visual connection into the soundstage. Additionally, it may also serve as a tracking space for the music currently being recorded for WNUR. The project also incorporates a vestibule outside room to provide added acoustic isolation to space.
