Dr. Allison Elber-White joined Northwestern Sport Psychology Services in August 2023 as the Postdoctoral Fellow in Sport Psychology. Dr. Elber-White provides mental health and mental performance services for Northwestern student-athletes and teams, working collaboratively with Sports Medicine and coaching staffs to optimize student-athletes’ well-being. Prior to becoming a postdoctoral fellow, during the 2021-22 academic year Dr. Elber-White worked at The Ohio State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services as a doctoral intern. In this role, she provided mental health services to the general student population including individual therapy, group therapy, triage, and crisis intervention.

Dr. Elber-White earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University in 2014. As an All-American athlete and a member of Big Ten and NCAA championship teams, she became interested in pursuing a degree in sport psychology after realizing the invaluable impact focusing on mental health and performance had on her and her team’s success. Dr. Elber-White earned her master’s degree in sport and performance psychology from the University of Denver in 2016, and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2022. Her research focuses on the intersection between multicultural frameworks and sport psychology, with her dissertation focusing specifically on female international student-athletes and their experience integrating into a new culture while attending college in the U.S.
