Theoretical Orientation:

Ida’s approach to therapy is foundationally Rogerian, or person-centered.  She views clients as the expert on their own lives and meets each individual with unconditional positive regard.  Recognizing that people strive to do their best despite their circumstances, Ida’s role as a therapist is to guide them towards healthier coping skills, healing, and thriving.

Ida works with clients with a culturally-aware, trauma-informed, and strength-based lens. She subscribes to the theoretical leanings of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Relational schools of thought.

Professional Interests/Expertise Areas:

Ida holds professional experience and expertise in working with Black & Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color.  Additionally, Ida holds personal experience of working within and being immersed in the Korean community within Chicago’s northwest suburbs for several years.  Most important, Ida has a strong desire to work with and learn from persons across all ethnic, cultural, sexuality & gender, SES and other backgrounds and identities.

Ida’s prior and current experiences also include community mental health, leadership, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit board membership.

Ida’s clinical interests include trauma, stress, coming of age, perfectionism, depression, anxiety, self-care, and ethnic identity development.
