Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)!

The purpose of this annual campaign is to understand impact and foster connection around Intimate Partner Violence. Although it is important every month to remain involved and create space for those impacted by gender-based violence, October provides a time for us to pause and reflect on the importance of moving from awareness to action. For more information on the history of SAAM, you can check out the National Network to End Domestic Violence here

CARE's Theme This Year is "Our Voice. Our Power: Reflections of Resilence"

This years theme "Our Voice. Our Power: Reflections of Resilience" is meant to proliferate the narratives, resistance, and activism of impacted folks via art submissions from students at NU as well as college students across the Chicagoland area. This years theme evokes the need for art that centers mental health, healing from violence, love, community, healthy relationships, body image, self love, resistance, and radical world making. The term "Impacted folks" is meant to encompass those that identify as survivors, allies, activist, and anyone else dedicated to building a safer world.
