Northwestern Definition of Consent
All of the definitions on this page are taken from the Northwestern Policy on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct.
Sexual violence occurs when there is a lack of consent. According to the Northwestern University Policy on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct, consent is present "when clearly understandable words or actions manifest a knowing, active, voluntary, and present and ongoing agreement to engage in specific sexual or intimate contact."
CSAW Consent Program: More than just FRIES!
Many folks are familiar with the FRIES model of consent, but there is much more to it than that! In this program, participants will learn to:- Define and understand what the four phases of consent look like in practice
- Examine their own boundaries and how these shift and change based on circumstances, relationships, and settings
- Practice effective communication around consent through scenarios and roleplays
