The Room & Board Accommodation Committee
At least one member of the Room & Board Accommodation Committee carefully reviews all requests and disability documentation to determine reasonable accommodations for housing and meal plans for students with disabilities in residence halls. All determinations are made in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Act, Illinois state laws, and municipal codes and ordinances.Members of the Committee include:
- Senior Associate Director of Administrative Services
- Director of Administrative Services
- Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services
- Executive Director of the University Health Service
- Director of AccessibleNU
- Registered Dietitian for Northwestern Dining
Since most housing accommodation requests can be efficiently and effectively handled by approaching Residential Services directly, Senior Associate Director of Administrative Services Mark D'Arienzo is a great starting point.
University Residential Services and Northwestern Dining cannot make an assignment or approve a contract release based on a condition or disability without a recommendation from a member of the Room & Board Accommodation Committee. In accordance with laws governing confidentiality of medical information, your information will not and cannot be shared with anyone outside of the committee without your signed release.
