Pandemic Travel Restrictions
Due to the pandemic, student organizations may have added restrictions for any planned travel. For any information regarding Northwestern University's COVID-19 related travel restrictions, please visit the COVID-19 and Campus Updates site.
Northwestern Student Group Travel Compliance Reporting
It is recommended that student group trip captains or other officers coordinating student group travel alert their advisor of travel plans and university reporting requirements per Clery Act. Campus Security Authorities (Advisors) are required to immediately report any Clery Act crimes, that they are made aware of, to the Northwestern University Police Department using the Campus Security Authority Crime Report Form. Additional reporting duties are required for student trips with this Student Trip form completed. Details on Clery Act reporting duties can be found on the Campus Security Authorities web page. For additional information, questions, or clarifications, email: Rachel Heyman, Compliance, Audit, and Advisory Services.
Students are responsible for collecting university-required documents for student group travel that includes overnight accommodations. The trip captain must provide the following to their advisor in advance of their trip:
- A completed Student Org Travel Plan document
- Emergency Information Forms from all trip participants
- Travel Waiver Forms from all trip participants
- Behavior Agreement Forms from all trip participants
- A completed Member Travel List that also serves as a checklist for all the above documentation.
The advisor is expected to maintain and have access to the information in these forms as long as they are advisor for the organization and pass them on to their successor, as needed.
