Beverly K. Fentress

ZHOBYEGEKWE (WOMAN WHO CREATES)

Beverly loves to create Art and this has been her love since childhood. She has experimented with water media, which includes watercolor, acrylics, collage and mixed media. Her subject matter varies with her love for people and creation and her bold colors and images focus on Life while highlighting individuals, family, community, nature and the tribal Nation. Beverly used her love and talent for art as she taught art classes in the community.

She has received numerous awards for her art at the local, regional and national levels. Her Native American Mural Paintings can be viewed at her tribe’s Cultural Heritage Center and various buildings in Shawnee Oklahoma, these 16 murals highlight many of the original families of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

Beverly works as a professional artist and lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Physical Therapy and she specialized in pediatric physical therapy. During her years providing Physical Therapy Services in the Oklahoma Schools, Beverly encouraged and created opportunities to engage her students with the student body and educational teams to participate in community art projects such as the state wide competitions in mixed media, collage projects and community projects such as The Painted Pony for fund raising. She has always loved to see the young artists and their developing talents.
