ARTIST STATEMENT
In the years after I graduated college, I lived with my Chinese grandfather in the suburbs. He's a funny guy and an amazing cook--he came to the US at age 16, he has been a chef all of his life. Now that I live in Chicago, he's by himself. Bored and lonely, he cooked a large assortment of food and told me to come pick it up. During our socially distanced meet-up, I gave him this lucky cat as a thank you. Embroidery has been my pandemic project.
