Accommodated Testing

For students approved for exam related accommodations, faculty are asked to proctor whenever possible. However, in some circumstances, there may be a need to have your test proctored within ANU. If your test is going to be proctored by ANU, please follow the below procedures.

Scheduling your exams with ANU

When taking exams at ANU, schedule exams through the ANU database at least a week in advance to ensure a seat is reserved for you. Please follow this process for scheduling.

Preparing to take your exam at AccesssibleNU

  • Cell phones, tablets, computers and other personal items are not allowed in the testing room.  We have lockers where you can store these items while testing.
  • You are expected to abide by the Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the Northwestern Student Handbook.
  • Please treat your test appointment with AccessibleNU as you would an exam in the classroom. You should:
    • Respond immediately to any emails pertaining to your exam from AccessibleNU
    • Be on time for your exam.  Your exam starts at the time scheduled, not when you show up.
    • Notify ANU immediately if you do not intent to show up for your exam.
  • Note that all exams taken at ANU are video monitored.

Test scheduling timeline

ANU requires tests to be scheduled at least one week in advance because:

  • We need to arrange space for proctoring, which may mean reserving additional rooms and proctors.
  • Some exams require AccessibleNU to load special software, arrange for a computer, print out color slides, etc.
  • Coordinating with the professor to obtain the exam and any special instructions can take some time.

ANU Testing Policies

  • Students, not professors, are responsible for scheduling ALL of their own exams
  • Exams must be scheduled through the online database at a minimum one week in advance.
  • Exams should be scheduled during the class exam time and within ANU business hours (Mon-Fri, 9:00-4:00 or During Finals Mon-Thurs, 9:00-7, Fri 9:00-4:00)
  • If you are unable to schedule your exam during the class exam time due to your class schedule or ANU office hours, you must agree upon an alternate time with your instructor and send the agreement to ANU for verification.
  • Late test requests that are scheduled less than 1 week in advance of the test date, will be considered on a case-by-case basis but are not guaranteed a seat at ANU for their exam.
  • Chicago campus exams will not be proctored by AccessibleNU.
