Due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, no Northwestern students studied abroad in Taiwan in 2021-2022. Prior to the pandemic, on average a dozen students studied in Taiwan annually.Units and Groups

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures offers an education in the languages, cultures, and literature of Asia. Students will acquire linguistic and transcultural competence in one or more regions of Asia and learn to understand the continent as a dynamic site of international cultural relations.

Asian Studies Graduate Cluster
Faculty in the Asian Studies Graduate Cluster (ASGC) offer comprehensive yet focused exposure to Asian cultures, histories, and societies, with an emphasis on transdisciplinary research and methodologies. The program trains graduate students in advanced research and interdisciplinary studies across the humanities and social sciences.More here

Taiwan-Northwestern Doctoral Scholarship
The Taiwan-Northwestern Doctoral Scholarship supports up to three (3) outstanding Taiwanese students pursuing doctoral degrees at Northwestern University. The Taiwan-Northwestern Doctoral Scholarship provides 50% of the total cost of the doctoral program, paid over four (4) years. Northwestern University provides the remaining cost for up to five years. Graduate admission and scholarship award decisions are made completely separately. This scholarship began with students matriculating in fall 2022. Scholarships will be available for the fall of 2023 and fall of 2024 for up to three (3) students each admission year.
