Winter Break 2011 Power Shutdowns

Commonwealth Edison will shut off power to selected Evanston Campus buildings next week to perform maintenance on ComEd equipment. Because it is winter break, minimal impact to normal campus activity is expected.

On December 12, 2011, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, ComEd will shut down power to these buildings:

Buildings equipped with emergency generators (2324 Campus Drive, Kemper, Slivka Hall, Bobb and McCulloch Hall, Elder and 600/610 Lincoln) will have power to emergency lighting and fire alarm systems only. There will be no power to receptacles, pumps, freezers, fans, or normal lighting while on generator and off of normal utility power. Sargent Hall's generator will back up the freezers and coolers in the Food Service Kitchen along with emergency lighting and fire alarm. Sargent Hall will have no power to outlets, pumps, fans, and normal lighting.

On December 15, 2011, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, ComEd will shut down the power to 1838 Chicago, which will be on emergency generator powering emergency lighting and the fire alarm system.  There will be no power to the receptacles and normal lighting while on alternate power.

On December 17, 2011, between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, Facilities Management will turn off normal building power in:

1838 Chicago

An emergency generator will provide power to the fire alarm systems and emergency lighting in Allison Hall, Shepard Hall, and 1838 Chicago. There will be no normal power to receptacles and no normal lighting in any of the buildings affected on December 17.
