This position is responsible for interacting with industry and government agencies to uncover promising technology applications and consider necessary optimization studies which identify the benefits of Hybrid Electric Propulsion (fuel burn, CO2 reduction, and noise reduction) on these applications; works to define appropriate development and qualification programs in close collaboration with customers (industry, NASA, Air force, etc.) and the FAA, to bring the Hybrid Propulsion System to a state of readiness; establishes the development and manufacturing costs of systems; performs other duties as assigned by faculty advisor and NASA sponsor.

The Newberry Library Graduate Scholar-in-Residence Program provides support for local PhD candidates conducting research in the humanities. Advanced PhD candidates are invited to apply; preference will be given to applicants whose dissertation projects are well advanced. Although the Newberry cannot offer remuneration to Graduate Scholars-in-Residence, participants have access to the Newberry during extended hours, personal research space, and opportunities to present work-in-progress to local scholarly communities.
