The Academic Job Market Preparation Workshop Series aims to demystify the application materials required for the academic job market. Each participant will develop their materials with the guidance of facilitated morning webinars and optional collaborative working groups in the afternoon. All sessions are conducted via Zoom.
Workshops are facilitated by:
the Graduate Writing Place,
Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA),
the Searle Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning,
and the Office of Fellowships.
Postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from all disciplines are welcome. You must register separately for each workshop you wish to attend.

Morning workshops are scheduled between 10:00–11:00 AM CDT via Zoom each day, with the option to break out into smaller groups in the afternoon. Each workshop details how to compose key application materials.

In the afternoons, participants have the option to meet in smaller groups to workshop application materials. These writing groups are structured to prioritize drafting academic job market materials in a supportive and collaborative setting.
Seats in the afternoon writing groups are limited. To apply for an afternoon writing group, you must register for all five sessions and submit an application.
