Student Information Systems
Northwestern University provides the following tools for students, advisers, and program administrators to view information about a student’s academic record:
CAESAR
CAESAR is Northwestern’s system of record for student data. Students, faculty, and staff use CAESAR to manage classes and grades, pay bills, view financial aid, process admissions, and maintain demographic data.
Graduate Student Progress (GSP)
to be fully implemented by October 2025
The Graduate Student Progress (GSP) application allows programs to track graduate student progress and view many elements of graduate student activity in one place:
- Advisor and committee
- Plan of study, including coursework planned and completed
- Annual progress, including awards, publications, research progress, meetings attended, teaching, and research goals
- Milestones (TGS and program-specific)
- TGS Forms (application for degree, master's degree completion, PhD qualifying exam, PhD prospectus, PhD final exam, petition for absence, and program withdrawal form)
Graduate Student Tracking System (GSTS)
to be sunset by late 2025
The Graduate Student Tracking System (GSTS) allows programs to track graduate student progress and view many elements of graduate student activity in one place. GSTS is being phased out in 2025 and replaced by GSP.
