University Shuttles Go Hybrid
November 18, 2024
Northwestern will launch a new fleet of hybrid-electric shuttle buses in Fall of 2025, marking an exciting move toward reducing the university’s carbon footprint and improving air quality on campus and beyond.
The new hybrid shuttles combine electric power generated by the bus’s operations with diesel fuel for additional power when needed, offering a cleaner, more efficient alternative to traditional diesel buses. The hybrid buses will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by the equivalent of removing three diesel shuttles from the road.
With these new hybrid-electric shuttles, Northwestern is taking a bold step toward a greener, more sustainable future for all.
