LEED Certified Buildings

Northwestern designs all new construction projects and major renovations to achieve LEED certification. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a U.S. Green Building Council program that recognizes building designs that are resource efficient and cost effective while providing a healthier and greener lifestyle for building occupants. The following projects have been certified or are expected to receive certification once completed.

Sustainable operation and maintenance

The life of a green building goes beyond design and construction. The Facilities Management team monitors ongoing building performance and works to maximize energy efficiency and meet other sustainability goals. Building occupants also have important parts to play in ensuring that buildings operates as sustainably as possible. Faculty and staff can contribute by getting involved in the Green Office program. Students can take action by using energy wisely, recycling, and adopting other sustainable habits.
