Looking Ahead to Earth Month

Spring quarter is around the corner and that means Earth Month is too! sustainNU, ASG, Northwestern Dining and others across campus are planning celebrations for this coming April. Earth Month is an opportunity to elevate engagement for and awareness of our environment.

There will be opportunities to learn more about the student groups, departments, and vendors helping to reduce Northwestern’s impact on our climate. Planned events include cooking demonstrations, speakers, a bike clinic, food waste reduction challenge, campus tree planting, and more. Watch for Earth Month 2023 details in April.

Northwestern has been celebrating since the very first Earth Day in 1970, when climate change and sustainability were not yet part of the lexicon but concern for the environment was building. Northwestern hosted a teach-in, called Project Survival, to engage the campus community in greater awareness of the health and environmental challenges facing our planet.

When the spring weather takes you outside, we hope you will take a moment to appreciate nature and think about ways you can support a healthy environment for all.
