sustainNU Launches New Podcast, "Conversations with sustainNU"

Conversations with sustainNU is a new sustainNU podcast series with Northwestern leadership on all things sustainability. In each episode, Director of Sustainability Greg Kozak sits down for a conversation with an expert in an area of environmental or sustainability issues.

With emerging evidence that many disadvantaged communities in the United States are being disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, the first three episodes in the podcast will focus on the indirect, but connected theme of the unequal impact of environmental degradation and climate change on low-income, minority and marginalized communities. The inaugural episode, with the Director of the Environmental Advocacy Center at Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law, Nancy Loeb, covers environmental injustice issues locally.

“Sustainability issues are not immune from the effects of inequity and injustice.” said Greg Kozak, Director of Sustainability at Northwestern and the host of the podcast. “We wanted to start conversations with Northwestern’s experts who understand the intersection of environmental quality and public health.”

The second episode is a conversation with Abigail Foerstner, the Director of the Health, Environment, and Science specialization in Medill’s Graduate program. The final episode features Patty Loew, Director of the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research, who discusses the underrepresentation of COVID-19 information in Native American communities.

New episodes will be released regularly.
