Campus Assistance

Blue Light Telephones

Blue light telephones with direct connections to University Police are located strategically throughout the Chicago and Evanston campuses.

Fingerprinting

University Police can provide fingerprints, free of charge, to students, faculty and staff, for departments and certifications that require them.

Found Property

When lost property is recovered and turned in to NUPD, reasonable attempts are made to identify, notify and return the property to the owner

Motorist Assistance

Find help with car trouble, keys locked inside the car and parking violations.

Safety Escorts

Provide safe passage to community members on the Evanston and Chicago campuses, either by a walking escort or by monitoring travel.

Special Event Security Staffing

University Police will collaborate with the event sponsors to plan safety and security measures, including requests for security staffing.

Other Safety Resources and Mobile Apps

  • Free shuttle: Free routes for the entire Northwestern community for Evanston and Chicago campuses that run well into the night.
  • NUGuardian: Free peer-to-peer smartphone app for Northwestern students to enhance their personal safety by designating phone contacts as "guardians" who walk (virtually) with them.
  • Safe Ride: Safe Ride is a service provided by Via transportation company to Northwestern students as a safe and free alternative to walking alone after dark.

Access Physical and Mental Support Virtually and on Campus

Access one-on-one support for mental health, physical health, spiritual guidance, sexual violence, and more by exploring NU Help resources. Resources like Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), TimelyCare App and Wellness at Northwestern are available for community members seeking support.
