Support for Undocumented Students

Welcome to Our Community: Support for Undocumented Students

Hi ‘Cats!

Welcome to the “Support for Undocumented Students” page! We are Advancement for the Undocumented Community (AUC), a student group at Northwestern University dedicated to supporting undergraduate and graduate students who are undocumented or have undocumented family members. We’re here to let you know: you are not alone, and there is a community here for you. Our experiences may be different, but when we come together, we create a community that holds and supports one another. You are welcome here, and this space is yours. Together, we belong. We are here to walk this journey with you. Reach out, join us, and let’s build a stronger, supportive community together. With warmth and solidarity, AUC.

  • Harvard Has Strong Chance to Prevail Over Trump in Immigration Lawsuit. Harvard University sued the Trump administration last Friday after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revoked its certification to enroll international students, citing Harvard’s refusal to cede federal control over admissions, hiring, and governance. A federal judge temporarily prevented the revocation from going into effect while the case proceeds. Legal experts believe Harvard has a strong case, which could significantly impact the future of international student programs (Forbes – May 25, 2025)

US Supreme Court Divided over Judges’ Power in Citizenship Case. In Trump v. CASA Inc., the Supreme Court will decide whether judges can block federal policies nationwide to prevent the Trump administration from ending birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants. The Trump administration says these broad court orders go too far, while critics worry that limiting them could lead to different rules about citizenship in different parts of the country. The justices seemed split during the hearing for the case. (BBC – May 15, 2025)
