Office of Undergraduate Research

Certified December 2024

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is proud to have earned its Green Team Certification in December of 2024. OUR is a small, but mighty, team of five who fund research grants for undergraduates across all six schools. In addition to funding projects, OUR offers wrap-around research support by advising on our grant proposals, and hosting workshops and events.

While OUR's Green Team is led by Outreach Coordinator, Ace Chisholm, and Program Coordinator, Tori Saxum, each member of the office is committed to serving on the Green Team by incorporating sustainable practices into their individual responsibilities.

In particular, OUR has partnered with Cats Who Compost to obtain a compost bin and began composting within the office. We hope to work with sustainNU and NU Facilities to bring another compost drop-off spot to the 1800 Hinman block. Additionally, OUR aims to bring Green Team Certification to the entire 1801 Hinman building by cross-departmental collaboration with colleagues from the Enrollment Division.

"Completing the Green Team Certification process was an exciting way to think creatively and keep sustainability top of mind during our day-to-day responsibilities," says Team Lead, Tori Saxum.

OUR looks forward to finding ways to keep their events sustainable by reducing printing and choosing sustainable vendors. Visitors to the office will soon find the space literally "greened" as the OUR team flexes their green-thumbs by adding more plants to their working environment.
