Credit for AP or IB Exams

Did you take one or more AP or IB exams? If so, you may receive Northwestern credit for your scores and/or be able to skip introductory courses in some sequences.  Although you may submit a request for your scores to be reported to Northwestern at any time, we strongly recommend doing so by July 15 so that both you and departments relevant to your plans have as much information as possible to make decisions about fall-quarter placements.

Find information about how scores are processed on the University registrar's website. Credit is assigned only upon Northwestern’s receipt of official score reports from the testing service. Northwestern begins assigning AP credit in August and IB credit in late August or early September. Check CAESAR before Wildcat Welcome to verify that the credit you expect to receive has posted.

See your school's website to learn how AP/IB credits can apply toward your degree. Credit is awarded only upon Northwestern's receipt of official score reports from the testing service. Bring a paper copy of your scores to use in advising sessions this fall.
