New international travel grant for Northwestern administrators

The main criteria we will be looking at when reviewing proposals is whether the trip will benefit the applicant’s work and have the potential to provide long-term benefits for the institutional partnership.”

Kim Rapp, Assistant Vice President for International Relations

Full-time Northwestern staff members who do not travel internationally for their work may now apply for the new Visiting Administrator Travel Grant to spend up to one week at one of Northwestern’s partner institutions abroad.

The goal of this grant program is to strengthen Northwestern’s international partnerships at the administrative level by providing staff members the opportunity to understand and witness first-hand the management of Northwestern programs and practices abroad as well as to share and learn best practices.

“The main criteria we will be looking at when reviewing proposals is whether the trip will benefit the applicant’s work and have the potential to provide long-term benefits for the institutional partnership,” said Kim Rapp, Assistant Vice President for International Relations, who manages the new grant.

Staff members applying for the grant are asked to request matching funds from their department or unit heads. However, all applications will be considered.

Eligible international partner institutions include Bocconi University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Peking University, Sciences Po – Paris, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Stellenbosch University, Tel Aviv University, Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City), Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3), University College London, and the University of Hong Kong.

Northwestern staff interested in traveling in 2018, should send an application to Kim Rapp at kim.rapp@northwestern.edu by April 16th. More details on how to apply can be found here.
