lukeintro.jpg"In the fall quarter of my first year of graduate school here at Northwestern, I failed my first neuroscience course, and it was a wake-up call for me. After some soul-searching through the winter break, I realized that I shouldn't try to tackle my academics completely on my own - I needed help. In the winter quarter, I joined a weekly study group with my classmates, started attending office hours for the first time, and began meeting regularly with my program coordinator to update him on my progress. My GPA improved to a 3.5 that quarter, and would steadily improve every quarter after. The big lesson I took from this is to be honest with yourself about when you need help, and to make a plan for that and stick to it."
