Northwestern Vision
What guides us.
Northwestern is committed to excellent teaching, innovative research and the personal and intellectual growth of its students in a diverse academic community.
The priorities listed below embody Northwestern's commitments to global eminence in research, innovation and education and the strengthening of our academic community.
These six priorities embody our commitments to global eminence in research and innovation.
They pledge to make Northwestern a leader in the biosciences and in decarbonization, renewable energy and sustainability and the creative and performing arts. Our research will harnesses the power of data analytics and artificial intelligence, and it will unite Northwestern’s interdisciplinary strengths in the social sciences and global studies.
These five priorities reflect our goals of strengthening of our academic community on our Chicago, Evanston and Qatar campuses.
These goals prioritize faculty and staff retention and supporting students’ mental health and sense of belonging. With a focus on free speech and academic freedom, Northwestern also aims to foster engagement across difference.
These principles provide the foundation for our University priorities.
